We offer the Phlebotomy, EKG and PCT (Patient Care Technician).
Phlebotomy starts off with theory, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and infection control. They receive instruction on how to prepare the blood collection site, how to choose the proper collection tools and how to handle the transportation, processing and management of collected samples. Medical and legal ethics as they relate to phlebotomy services are also taught. Students practice the blood and specimen collection and handling skills learned.
EKG/ECG technician is a cardiology technologist with specialized training in operating 12-lead EKG equipment used to measure the heart performance of a patient. By attaching 12-lead electrodes to a patient's body and recording the electrical impulses transmitted by a patient's heart with an EKG machine. The EKG/ECG technician provides the date to the physician or other healthcare professions for analysis. Many EKG/ECG technicians obtain employment in a hospital's telemetry department where patients are often in critical condition, or have other heart-related conditions, and need constant monitoring. They are also employed in doctor's office or other related healthcare environment.
Patient Care Technician's tend to the ill or injured under the supervision of doctors, nurses and medical professionals usually in an acute care (hospital) environment. We ensure that our training programs are comprehensive to include skills such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, diabetic testing, performing catheterization, would care and assisting patients with eating, personal hygiene and grooming. PCT's also take notes and make assessments on patients care. PCT's often work in hospital's rehabilitation facilities and/or clinics.
In addition to the acute-care training that is the core to being a PCT, the student must also have already completed, or be currently enrolled in the Phlebotomy and EKG/ECG Programs in order to meet the education requirements of the PCT program.
* Valid Florida CNA License or Anatomy/Physiology Transcripts 1 & 2
* Enrollment of both the Phlebotomy and EKG/ECG Programs
Completion of these Certification Training Programs in Florida requires passing the practicum portion, which is held on campus, and the course final written exam.
Once the program has been successfully completed, the student can register through the school to take the National Certification Exam.
We offer a CPR/BLS, First Aid and Bloodborne courses for healthcare providers. We teach according to the high standards of the American Heart Association.
CPR includes the following topics along with a 2-Year Certification:
* Adult CPR * Child and Infant CPR * AED Usage
We are a local American Heart Training Provider who is aligned with the AHA Training Center "In-Pulse CPR, Inc".
Med-Tech training is a 4-hour class taught by a RN. It will cover national standards with a focus on specific Florida regulations for assisting residents with medication. This training program is approved by the Department of Elder Affairs.
**Due to recent changes, this will now by a 6-hour Certificate. You will take the 4-hour class and will need to provide the 2-hour CEU, Medication Savvy, see staff for details.

This online program is for Continuing Education Units which involves certifications for healthcare providers every 2 years.
